Description: The Blackpoll Warbler (Setophaga strata) is a small songbird that breeds in the boreal forests of Canada and Alaska and migrates to South America for the winter.
One of the most impressive feats of the Blackpoll Warbler is its long-distance migration. Before heading south for the winter, these birds undertake a non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean from northeastern Canada to the northeastern coast of South America, covering a distance of up to 4,000 kilometers (2,500 miles). This journey is considered one of the longest overwater flights of any songbird species.
