Description: The ruins of Tartu Cathedral are a historical and architectural landmark in Estonia. The cathedral was built in the 13th century by the German crusaders who conquered the region. It was the seat of the Bishopric of Dorpat and a center of learning and culture. The cathedral suffered extensive damage during the Livonian War and was abandoned in the 16th century. Today, only the western towers and part of the nave remain standing.
